Junior Academy

Currently boasting the biggest Junior Golf Academy in the East Riding, we combine quality coaches, ideal facilities, and a great family atmosphere to make the Academy a fantastic environment for children to enjoy learning how to play golf whilst having fun.

Monitoring progression through regular on-course events, we guide Juniors from complete beginners, into membership, and in many cases on into the professional ranks.

With superb facilities including: a floodlit driving range, artificial and grass short game areas; a large putting green; 2 x 18 hole golf courses; health club; lounge and café bar, Cottingham Parks is the ideal place to learn and develop.

We host regular weekly group coaching sessions (including girls only classes), plus half day coaching during school holidays. Full details are available from the Pro-shop.

Junior week

Open to all, our extremely popular Junior week comprises of 5 days coaching, lunch, daily on-the-course competitions and prizes. Anyone wishing to take part is advised to book early as places are often over-subscribed.

Meet our Golf Coaches

Mark Thompson - PGA Professional, Level 3 PGA Coach

Mark has been part of the Junior Academy for over 10 years delivering lessons and coaching programs at primary and secondary schools, encouraging more children to try golf, with follow on sessions at the Academy. Mark is also the winner of the Golf Foundation ‘Laddie Lucas Award’ for getting more girls into golf.

Alex Boyton - PGA Professional, Level 3 PGA Coach

Alex has 14 years coaching experience. With over 5 years at our Academy and like Mark, has been delivering lessons and coaching programs at primary and secondary schools, encouraging more children to try golf, with follow on sessions at the Academy. Alex has also enjoyed numerous playing successes of his own

Ken Hilton

Ken is our current Junior Organiser who is very passionate about developing the Cottingham Parks juniors. He helps run our highly successful Junior Development Programmes (JDP) and is the Juniors main fundraiser.

My son has been receiving golf lessons from Alex for a couple of years in both group and one to one lessons.  He has a fantastic ability to communicate with the juniors at all ages and always makes it an enjoyable experience.  From a parents perspective he is always very approachable and takes the time to explain the lesson to me so I can help him apply it on the course.
